From SpamWatch to ScamWatch, New Security Measures... ScamWatch "Phishing" is the act of sending an email falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise, in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that can be used for identity theft. In response to the growing problem of online 'phishing' schemes, Eudora 6.2 introduced ScamWatch, which analyzes the weblinks within email messages for deceptive phishing practices and warns the user to exercise caution before making the connection. Specifically, ScamWatch looks for the use of IP addresses rather than hostnames or hostnames in link URLs that don't match hostnames in the link text.
